Our
Story

Get to Know Us

Founded in 2021 by proud Métis woman, Erin Creegan-Dougherty, Maskwa Gourmet Foods creates a range of Métis-inspired dehydrated and freeze-dried meals tailored to meet different dietary preferences and restrictions. These meals focus on using local sustainable ingredients to produce a range of products for both the individual user, and for the bulk outdoor and eco-tourism market. As a company, our goal is to showcase the best of Canada through the use of local ingredients, as well as establishing various Indigenous partners so we can support the community and our mission of sharing Métis culture and history - one meal at a time.

OUR LOGO

Our logo symbolizes the intertwining of Métis culture and sustainable food practices. In Cree culture, the bear ("maskwa") represents strength, resilience, and a deep connection to the land. Thus, our logo embodies the balance between respecting nature and sharing Indigenous cultural heritage through food, showcasing a commitment to sustainability, cultural preservation, and community support.
